You do not need to become the wise reindeer during the sessions, just use one or two per session and it will grow from there.

😮 Ai jaa!	Oh so! Let the jaa stretch slightly: ai jaa… Sound newly informed, mildly surprised or quietly suspicious.
🤨 Ai niinkö?	Oh so-is-it? Raise your eyebrows slightly. The Finnish version of: “Oh, really?”
😲 Oho!	Oh! Make round, pursed lips for the o sound. Useful for surprise, admiration or a small disaster.
😱 Eikä!	And not! Eyebrows up. Look slightly horrified. Often means: “No way!” or “You’re joking!”
😳 Ihanko totta?	Quite really? Open your eyes slightly wider. Genuine or playful disbelief.
🤯 Ei voi olla!	Cannot be! Put emphasis on ei and stretch it slightly: Eii voi olla!
🙈 Voi ei!	Oh no! A small worried face is appropriate. Works for bad news and minor Finnish-life disasters.

Become the most respected reindeer in the room 🏆🦌

Give yourself one point every time you use one of these expressions during the session.

Someone in the room may volunteer to count the points, or count your own. This is entirely optional, although reindeer competition may become unexpectedly serious.

Reindeer ranking

1–3 points: Small forest creature
4–7 points: Promising young reindeer
8–12 points: Highly conversational reindeer
13+ points: Most respected reindeer in the room

Bonus points may be awarded for:

• a perfectly timed eikä!
• a deeply thoughtful niin niin
• using no niin in three completely different situations
• surviving a technical problem entirely in Finnish
• sounding so Finnish that nobody knows whether you agree, disagree or are simply thinking
